2015 Oud Zuid

Recently there has been a lot of interest in the ‘Amsterdam Oud Zuid’ residential area; a classy neighborhood outside the canal belt, but close to the museums and the Vondelpark and with many exclusive shops and restaurants. Young people with high incomes place a high value on the neighbourhood, are attracted by these new shops and are happy to show off their newly acquired status. But until a few decades ago, this was a quiet neighborhood for ‘well-to-do citizens’, who preferred a pleasant and green neighborhood with an unobtrusive profile. Jaap went looking for those classic residents, who are now of a higher age. They cling to and cherish old values and do not allow themselves to be pushed aside by the new class.
