In 2019 Willemien and Henk van Montfrans told Jaap about their courtyard in Zeeland, and the recreation of their property into a full-grown garden according to a historical map. The achievement took them 21 years to build. They asked Jaap to make a book about this result. This formed the beginning of a close relationship in which they discussed the history, the natural importance of this courtyard for a great variety of plants and animals living there, and their personal visions of the cultivation of this landscape. Jaap has visualized this perspective and the balance between past and present, climate and flora, and the imbalance between nature and agricultural land.
This book was published in May 2021.
