2025 Museum de Zaanse tijd
The Zaanse Schans boasts a beautiful small museum, the Museum Zaanse Tijd (Museum of Zaanse Time), which provides a detailed overview of the concept of time. It focuses on clocks and timepieces, but also explains the theory and production of clocks. The museum is actually a foundation, and they were looking for a photographer to digitally capture the collection. Although this falls under product photography and isn’t Jaap’s specialty, he accepted the assignment and delved into how to best capture diverse objects, from very small to very large, in a universal and recognizable way. It was an educational project, requiring careful and creative use of lighting. The client was impressed with the result.
Director Hans van de Ende commented: To capture the huge diversity of clocks, watches, instruments and tools in our collection is not a straightforward task. Each object has its own challenges. Jaap was exactly what we were looking for in a photographer: flexible, creative and knowledgeable in his field of expertise. The final result will be perfect to use in the museums digital online presentation.
