Photography and Ikigai

1-11-23 Creating an image looks simple but is the result of a more complex process. It’s easy to take a snapshot during your holiday as an amateur. However, the professional photographer will take much more variables into consideration.

The photographer interprets reality. That is the result of style and intention. But the question is whether that intention is also clear to the viewer. Is the image close to reality or has the photographer given an artistic twist to the image? This freedom of interpretation depends on the situation: is the photographer works autonomously or on commission. The theory of Ikigai can be interesting for determining the photographer’s position. Is it about passion, is it commercial, is it a calling or is it about a mission?
